Collaborative Work Management in ServiceNow SPM.
Collaborative Work Management gives teams a workspace to plan, visualise, manage and collaborate on day-to-day work while remaining connected to the wider SPM environment.
A collaborative layer for team work.
ServiceNow describes CWM as a central hub for teams to plan, visualise, manage and collaborate on work. Team members can interact with project and demand tasks through CWM without needing the full SPM experience.
The product architecture includes CWM spaces, boards, docs, folders, sprints, task types, tasks, connected work, views and user automation.
CWM and Enterprise Agile Planning are related, but not the same.
CWM provides collaborative work-management structures for teams. ServiceNow separately positions CWM + EAP for agile planning and execution with sprint-oriented capability, while Enterprise Agile Planning introduces broader structures such as portfolios, capabilities, agile teams, ARTs, solution trains, iterations and planning intervals.
That distinction matters when deciding whether a team needs flexible collaborative work management, more formal agile planning, or both.
Implementation considerations.
- Define which teams and work types should use CWM.
- Decide how CWM tasks connect to project and demand work without duplicating records.
- Keep spaces, boards and task types simple enough for teams to adopt.
- Clarify where CWM ends and Enterprise Agile Planning begins for agile delivery.
- Use automation selectively to reduce administration rather than obscure ownership.
